Consolidated Travel was begun by Janet Histon, Rose Marx and Sally Middleton, together with Rajes Govender, when their then employer, Gundlefingers Travel, elected to close its Pinetown office in 1992. The prospect of promotion to management for a Black woman given the political climate and gender prejudice at the time prompted the partners to open their own business. 

Enlisting the support of the Corporate Sector was an even more daunting prospect. It took a certain amount of courage and the hope that fortune would favour the brave and the foolhardy that persuaded four women and two of their husbands to begin the company. 

Forty percent of the equity of the company is still currently owned by women.

We satisfy their needs by making optimal use of preferential pricing passed onto us by the airlines and other industry suppliers, and offer personalised service to each of our clients. 

Consolidated Travel has revolutionised travel reservations, recognising that corporate travel is designed to produce profits. The company devised a system of extracting every possible opportunity to reduce travel costs which is then passed on to its clients.
